Kumarakom

Kumarakom is a popular tourist destination situated near the city of Kottayam (16 kilometres) and is famous for its backwater tourism. It is set in the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake which is the largest freshwater lake in the State of Kerala.

Edathua Church

Built in 1810 and dedicated to St. George, the St. George Forane Church is among the prime attractions in this tranquil backwater district. Its annual feast (5th, 6th and 7th of May) sees believers from across the southern parts of the country

Other Attractions

Cochin

Kochi is stated as the most vibrant city of Kerala, where you can witness old culture blending with the new hip-hop culture. Though it took many years to discover the true potential of Kochi, it is now one of the fastest growing cities in India.

Cochin includes mainland Ernakulam, Fort Cochin and Mattancherry. Ernakulam is a bustling city with shoppers and tourists. The buildings of the colonial era can be seen in Fort Cochin. St. Francis Church, Vasco House, Koder House, Old Harbour House, David Hall and the Bastion Bungalow are some of the landmarks. Chinese fishing nets can be seen in this area.

Mattancherry, the western part of Cochin, was once a bustling centre of trade, particularly in spices. Invasions from across the sea was frequent and the invaders left indelible marks on the landscape, culture, art and social history of the place. Churches, agraharams, mosques and a synagogue co-exist in the area.

Thekkady

Thekkady is the location of the Periyar National Park and the wildlife sanctuary is home to herds of elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur, lion-tailed Macaques and Nilgiri Langurs. The Wild Life Sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. The main attraction is to watch the herds of wild elephants that come down to play in the splendid artificial lake. The sanctuary can be accessed through a nature walk, boating or jeep safari. Thekkady is considered a heaven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove.

Munnar

Munnar, a breathtakingly beautiful haven of peace and tranquility is set at an altitude of 6000 Ft. in Idukki District. Munnar was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. It is an idyllic tourist destination in God’s Own Country with its aroma of spice scented cool air, unending expanse of tea plantations, pristine valleys, mountains and exotic species of flora and fauna

Athirappilly and Vazhachal

As you walk down the stone slabs that lead to the base of the Athirappilly waterfalls, a mysterious serenity overcomes you. It is Kerala’s most famous and largest waterfall at over 80 ft high.
